Getting Involved
LYF (Leaders of Youth Fellowship)
LYF is a group of youth in grades 10th-12th who are mentors and leaders in the youth group. LYFers act as the welcome wagon to new people and help plan events. If you are in 10th grade or older talk to Andie about being part of LYF.
Acolytes
Sundays, 9 and 11:15 a.m. Worship
Acolytes are really important in our church services. You carry a cross or torch in the processional, help prepare the altar for the Eucharist, and best of all, you get to sit up front and be in the middle of all the action. You also get to do fun events with the other acolytes like lock-ins and swim parties. You will remember the experience of being an acolyte for the rest of your life! To sign up to acolyte, contact Pam Jones or Jennie Penn, acolyte mavens.
Youth Lectors
Sundays, 9 and 11:15 a.m. Worship
Youth Lectors are also really important to the church services. You don’t have to memorize anything. All you have to do is get up and read passages during the service. Public speaking is great thing to learn, and people in the church won’t heckle you. Contact Barbara Uhlander to be a Youth Lector.
Trinity Center (Bingo and Bridge)
Trinity Center is our outreach ministry to our homeless neighbors downtown. We organize bingo games where we hand out bags, clothes, bathroom items, and other stuff as prizes. At Trinity Center Bridge, we have activities in Eden’s Center like playing basketball, arts and crafts, and story time for kids from the Salvation Army.
Café Divine
Chef Ray wants YOU! Serving in the kitchen is a way to serve all of St. David’s ministries, because you put food in people’s stomachs. Also, you learn how to cook and how to run Hobart, the friendly dishwasher.
BookShop and Coffee Divine
Afternoon and weekend shifts available (perfect for after school).
Patricia wants YOU TOO!! Volunteer work in the bookshop/coffee shop involves ringing up sales, helping customers, making lattes, and keeping things look nice. The customers are nice; the merchandise is nice; and a 10% discount is available for volunteers. There are several shifts available in the BookShop that you guys could take, either on a weekly or monthly basis.
***Adults interested in volunteering with the youth program? Here are a few things you can do to help:
Event Sponsor: We need chaperones and drivers for various events we go on every year: ski trip, mission trips, lock-ins, and so on.
Youth Chefs: Every Sunday before EYC we meet in Café Divine for supper. We need people to help serve the food (already prepared by Chef Ray) from 4-6 p.m..
Sunday Morning Teachers: We need teachers for the Sunday morning programs from 10:25-11:25 a.m. This is a two year commitment. We use the Journey to Adulthood curriculum; it’s a valuable teaching tool as well as fun and entertaining for the youth. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these ways, please contact Andie Zepeda at 472-1196 ext. 146.
