Bess Cooper Carsner
St. David’s has been a part of Bess’s life since 1973. She attended the 9 a.m. service and participated in children and youth activities growing up. Bess and Clay were married at St. David’s and continue to worship and serve here with their children. She has been a member of the Altar Guild, the Stewardship Committee, the Capital Campaign Committee, discernment committees, and various search committees. She was an elementary school teacher and continued her love of working with children by teaching Catechesis of the Good Sheperd for over ten years. Bess has been on the childcare committee, St. David’s Day School Board, and St. Matthew’s Day School Board. She mentored in St. David’s public school program, Kid’s Hope. She is a founding board member of Magdalene House of Austin, a non-profit residential program for adult women who have survived trafficking. Bess was elected to the vestry in 2022.
