Jim Norman

Jim has attended St. David’s since 2015 and has been a confirmed Episcopalian since 2018. He has participated in various journey groups, in the Education for Ministry program, and in a Discovery Retreat at the diocese’s Camp Allen center. A native of Austin, he attended college in Colorado and was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force from 1990 to 1998, serving in Phoenix, Arizona, Del Rio, Texas, and San Antonio. Jim flew for Southwest Airlines from 1999 to 2007 and then attended law school at the University of Texas, graduating in 2012. He worked as a solo estate planning and probate attorney for a few years and has been at the State Bar of Texas since
2017. Jim has a son and two daughters—all adults—and an ever-varying number of cats (two as of this writing). He enjoys hanging out with his kids, socializing with his running club, reading, consuming good food, and listening to podcasts about diverse topics. Jim came of age about the same time Texas law changed to allow independent breweries to operate, and he has been a fan of joining good friends with good beer ever since.

An active member in The Fellowship ministry and of St. David’s LGBTQ fellowship, Jim approaches his vestry service mindful of the needs of marginalized groups and those in recovery. Jim was elected to the vestry in 2022.
