The Sacred Order of Acolytes offers a fun, gamified training model for new acolytes or those in need of a refresher. This interactive and age-appropriate workshop is for students in grades 3-12. Students will learn about the order of service, what acolytes do, and how to respectfully behave in that role using games and intrigue.

The workshop is two hours long and includes lunch. If you or your child are on the fence about joining our Sacred Order of Acolytes, I still invite your child to the workshop to see how it feels. If parents and caregivers are feeling drawn to more accountability in worship attendance or considering ways to help their child feel like they belong in this community, this might be a good fit.

After the workshop, if you decide to join the Sacred Order of Acolytes, please know that I’m flexible with my students regarding when/how often they serve. Requesting substitutes, trading spots, and inputting your availability are all straightforward processes in our volunteer management software, Ministry Scheduler (sign-up information will be sent after the workshop).

I ask students to serve roughly once a month in the 9 a.m. service and twice a month at 11:15 a.m. Please let me know what commitments you can make, and I will do my best to honor that.

Wednesday, Sept. 17 -Acolytes commissioned
7 P.m. Holy Eucharist for feast of the holy cross, Historic Church

The Feast of the Holy Cross invites us into the mystery of Christ's redeeming work on our behalf by his death on the cross and will feature special musical selections from the choir. At this evening service, new acolytes will be commissioned. Our regular Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) meeting will meet as scheduled, but will be shortened so that our youth may worship together at 7 p.m. in Historic Church.
