September 13 – September 13 – Please meet for our kick-off event on Sunday afternoon, September 13th at the Harry Ransom Center from 1:30 – 3:30, followed by dinner at Matt's El Rancho at 4:30. Exhibits at the HRC include Houdini’s Library, The Worlds of Gertrude Stein, and The Gutenberg Bible. A tour guide will explain how Houdini crafted his performances based on history and for years collected books and manuscripts documenting the history of magic and theatre. Next, we will learn about legendary Gertrude Stein, an American author best known for her modernist writings. Clothing, stationery, and household items tell a story of Stein's life in Paris. Finally we will hear the HRC’s story about their Gutenberg Bible, representing only one of twenty copies in the world printed on Johan Gutenberg’s printing press. Also you’ll have time to walk around to enjoy other exhibits.

Admission is free, bring a friend if you want, and after touring the HRC we will all gather at Matt's El Rancho for dinner. Look forward to seeing you!

Please register as soon as you can, so Chris can give the tour guide at the HRC a number.
