Oct. 10-18: Día de los Muertos Altar Preparations

Help Prepare Día de los Muertos Altar

For many years, St. David's HOME Ministry has invited the parish to remember loved ones by building a Día de los Muertos ofrenda (altar) for the community. This shared tradition was even offered online during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Oct. 10-25: Bring Altar Mementos to Front Desk

On Sunday, Oct. 10, join Dr. Laura Hernández-Ehrisman in Crail C at 10 a.m. for a lecture on the meaning of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Beginning that Sunday, all are invited to honor deceased loved ones by bringing labeled mementos to the Front Desk for placement on the altar. Mementos can include flowers, candles, photos, food, drinks, and other keepsakes, and will remain on the altar until Nov. 5.

Oct. 18: Altar Blessing

Saturday, Oct. 18, come and help build the altar from 9 a.m.-noon and participate in a blessing. A memorial reception will be held at the altar after our All Souls' Requiem on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Mementos can be picked up after the reception.
