Oct. 18: Altar Blessing: Saturday, 9 a.m.-Noon, Lobby
On Sunday, Oct. 10, join Dr. Laura Hernández-Ehrisman in Crail C at 10 a.m. for a lecture on the meaning of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), an All Souls' Day tradition rooted in Indigenous and Spanish Catholic ritual customs. For many years, St. David's HOME Ministry has invited the parish to share in this tradition and remember loved ones by building a Día de los Muertos altar for the community. This has become a St. David's tradition and was even offered online during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
To honor our deceased loved ones, you are invited to help build our Día de los Muertos Altar (Ofrenda) by bringing labeled mementos to the Front Desk for placement on the altar until Nov. 5. Items can include flowers, candles, photos, food, drinks, and other keepsakes. Come to the lobby 9 a.m.-Noon and help build the altar and participate in a blessing on Saturday, Oct. 18. This is also the date of our annual Trunk or Treat on the surface lot.
A memorial reception will be held at the altar after our All Souls' Requiem on Wednesday, Nov. 5, after which the mementos will be returned.
