On Thursday, May 29, the parish was invited to an evening celebrating Ascension Day through play, sharing a meal, and worship.
This was also the last day of the school year for many students in Austin. Families were invited to play with "things that go up" on the Labyrinth, like a giant parachute and bouncy balls. The director of Children and Family Ministries, the Rev. Kristin Braun, offered kids hot-air balloon goodie bags to enjoy.
At 5:30 p.m., everyone gathered in Sumners Hall for a delicious dinner of heavenly favorites, including fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, cornbread, and chocolate "cloud" cupcakes. A well-fed parish offered Chef Latesha and the Café Divine hospitality team a round of applause for the dinner.
At 7 p.m., we shared an Ascension Day Holy Eucharist, Rite II, in Bethell Hall with the full St. David's Choir. Learn more on our music blog.
All were invited to observe the Feast of the Visitation, commemorated during Morning Prayer at 9 a.m. this Saturday, May 31.
