We have two special dates coming up that you won’t want to miss: Welcome Home Weekend and our Feast of St. David of Wales with 175th anniversary celebration. If you’ve been following our building updates, you know our Historic Church renovations continue on schedule. This means our season of worship in Bethell Hall is coming to a close, and we look forward to a new season of celebration in Historic Church.
Welcome Home Weekend: Aug. 12-13
First weekend back in newly renovated Historic Church
PRIDE Eucharist
Saturday, Aug. 12, 6:30 p.m.
For our return to Historic Church, we’re excited to kick off Welcome Home Weekend with our annual PRIDE Eucharist before the PRIDE parade downtown. The whole community is invited to celebrate and pray with and for our LGBTQIA+ siblings. Afterward, walk in the Austin PRIDE Parade alongside our float, St. David’s parishioners, and other affirming area Episcopal churches.
Welcome Home Sunday
Sunday, Aug. 13, 8 and 10:30 a.m.
Following the PRIDE Eucharist, the next morning will be our first Sunday back in Historic Church since August 2022. We’ll offer two morning services: an 8 a.m. Rite I spoken service and a 10:30 a.m. Rite II service with choir and organ. This is also the Sunday when we do our monthly birthday blessings and annual backpack blessings. After the 10:30 service, everyone is invited to a festive celebration in Bethell Hall for lunch, fellowship, and the kickoff to our programming year.
Feast of St. David of Wales and 175th Anniversary Celebration
Sunday, Oct. 22, 10:30 a.m.
For 2023, because of construction, we decided to move our patronal feast day celebration from March to October when we could celebrate in the newly renovated Historic Church. Sunday, Oct. 22, Bishop Andy Doyle will join us for our Feast of St. David mass, confirm the newest members of the church, and celebrate our 175th anniversary. More details to come on this exciting day!
Season of Celebration in Historic Church
After the culmination of Historic Church renovations and nearly seven years of work by so many people, we want to honor this accomplishment with a season of celebration in Historic Church. We are so excited to celebrate this milestone between Welcome Home Weekend and our Feast of St. David of Wales in October. For those nine weeks, we’ll worship together with all services in Historic Church. We will keep our current Sunday morning schedule of 8, 9, and 11:15 a.m. services.
