Easter morning brought joyous tidings of Jesus’ Resurrection and the chance to win some special projects from the youth and staff of our parish! We hosted a silent auction fundraiser in Sumners Hall from 10-11:15 a.m. to raise travel funds for our summer service trip to North Carolina. Music Director Mark Wischkaemper made some beautiful handmade wooden cheese and cutting boards for this fundraiser, and they did very well in the bidding, eventually causing him to promise an entirely new one to one bidder! Sorry Mark, now you have homework. ;]
Chuck’s boat trip was of course, the big ticket item, but I think the Cannon family will thoroughly enjoy hanging out with him on some upcoming Saturday! We were also pleasantly surprised to see so many folks interested in pet sitting by one of our "youts." I’m so pleased to say that we raised at least $1,700 for our Youth Service Trips. This will go a long way to ensuring our costs are covered for this trip. Several folks approached me to ask how to donate directly (visit online giving and choose the subfund "Youth Ministry") rather than bidding on items, so this number may still rise as funds continue to get processed online.
I will notify winners later this week, including information on how to pay for their final bid and, if applicable, connecting them to the youth or staffer who donated their time.
Our next fundraiser for this cause will be a (Holy) Spirit Night on Tuesday, June 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Phil’s Icehouse & Amy’s Ice Cream on Burnet Rd. Come feed your family and enjoy some dessert; 20% of proceeds will go to St. David’s Youth Service Trips for all who mention “St. David’s” at checkout.
