Sunday, Dec. 1
12:30-2 p.m., Sumners Hall
Last Sunday, after youth formation wrapped up, I lingered to chat with a few older high school students. It was one of those chats about nothing and everything, and we eventually discussed the neurodivergent joy of having something to do with your hands while you listen to something (tv, podcast, chat with a friend, etc). I mentioned that I’d wanted to learn how to crochet because it seemed to perfectly fill that “socially-appropriate fidget” sized hole in my life! Two of my teens immediately confirmed to me that it is the perfect hobby for that, and another said he had the exact same idea as me but never learned how. We quickly decided that what we really needed was some dedicated time to eat and crochet together, and thus: Yarn & Yap was born!
Within 20 minutes, I had three more RSVPs from youth students and friends of mine who wanted to join. I called up the leader of St. Agnes Guild as soon as church let out to see if they would want to come yarn and yap with us. Alex, their lay leader, was overjoyed to hear the enthusiasm for this new event and confirmed that several guild members would also want to join us! This event started with youth group energy, but we’d welcome folks of all ages with a current ongoing project or wish to learn.
On Sunday, Dec. 1, our St. Agnes Guild will be celebrated in worship along with all of the knitted and crocheted gifts they have created for people in need. After worship, we will have our monthly fellowship lunch in Sumners Hall with the addition of Yarn & Yap.
