Family Ministry Fall 2026 Updates
Fall formation is off to a great start, beloved. Our Journey groups are having so much fun. We have posted curricula outside their classrooms so that you can see what exciting things will be happening from week to week. These two classrooms give our kids lots of one-on-one time for fun and formation in ways that allow them to really build community. I highly recommend them and applaud the faithful work our teachers do in order to connect God to our kids in their everyday lives.
We have had many new faces join our Catechesis atria, and we are just now feeling like we have everyone in the places we need them. Thank you all for your flexibility as we navigated those important transitions. Jesse and Dani are now leading our Level I Atrium, and Ms. Christy is leading Level II. We will be relying on some new volunteers to support the work in that atrium, and I look forward to meaningful work in this newer, bigger room. If you would like to take a turn once a month, or can help randomly as a sub, please let me know and I will schedule you there.
Susan will be transitioning into new ministry within St. David’s, so you will not see her in the atrium moving forward. We are incredibly grateful for the formation she has done with our children through her years on the first floor. Look for her on Wednesday evenings at dinner and keep an eye out for a book study she will lead for parents who want to learn more about the work and formation of Catechesis – please join me in thanking her when you do see her. We are so fortunate to have had her dedicated ministry for so long.
I want you to know that Allen and I are going to Italy for the first two weeks of October. Now that we have the girls off to a good, solid start in school, we’re going to take a little “me time” on the Amalfi Coast. I cannot wait! When we get back, look for some parent programming from both of us. In our time at St. Matt’s, we shared our time and talent together by facilitating a program called Forming Families, and we will begin bringing you pieces of that work here. We’ll start with Family Dynamics and Communication, but I also have a quick primer in Conscious Discipline, if you’d like to learn about the incredibly stabilizing work of Becky Bailey.
Please let me know how things are going for your family now that we are all in full swing, and do let me know if the Sunday formation hour or Wednesday evening might be better for programming for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Much love, Fr. K
