Update to Children's Sunday Schedule and Fall Events

14Sep

Hello St David’s fams,

We are off to an amazing start, and I am incredibly happy we’re back in the groove. We have had a lot of kids move up into Youth Ministry. The Youth Room (170) is just teeming with energy. We had 22 youth in formation this past Sunday. We have similarly had a little crop of cuties graduate from childcare and into Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (see gallery below). It’s all very exciting.

Update to Sunday Morning Schedule

One thing I have noticed is that Community Time no longer works the same way it did last year. The kids who benefited the most are either graduated to Youth Ministry or headed home after formation because they were in the 9 a.m. service. The little ones, on the other hand, are ready for a snack and a break after an hour of Sunday classes. I think the right thing to do is to let them do that in the childcare room that they are used to. Of course, if parents and caregivers would rather pick them up at 11 a.m., that’s fine, too. But I still want you to have the extra time because I know it is so helpful and right for parents and caregivers to have a moment to be fed by the Word.

Children's Ministry volunteers Jesse and Edda would still like to do service projects for us, and we will work those in from time to time so that we can keep learning good stewardship and ministry in action. It will likely be in that same timeframe. But you’ll know in advance so that you can plan for it. And breakfast will still be available at 9:45 a.m., because we all understand the importance of the bacon.

So the pattern now will be bacon, formation, then on to childcare or pick up at 11 a.m.

Fall 2025 Family Events

Also, Trunk or Treat is coming on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, and it is going to be so much fun. I am planning a game at each car for more engagement and fun. I would like twelve cars to participate this year. If you want to sign up, please email I have kits and games on the way, so don’t let creativity be a barrier to your participation. That is the same morning the ofrenda will be set up for Día de los Muertos, so it will be a great morning to be on campus.

I hope your school year is off to a great start, loves. But if it’s not, please reach out. I am always happy to brainstorm ideas and lend support. We are really struggling to find a new normal around here. If you are, too, know that you are not alone. The Bethell Parent Group will be working on helping parents to find time in their schedules for self-care. It is so important right now that we maintain our balance and peace in our day-to-day, and right now, that feels pretty challenging. I'm praying for each of you as you walk through this time with so much care. I see you showing up for love, and I am grateful.
