Helping Our Neighbors During the Upcoming Freeze
In preparation for the impending freeze, St. David’s parishioners and staff are volunteering time and donating resources to support our unhoused neighbors at Trinity Center during this critical period.
In accordance with Trinity Center’s recommendations, our primary goal is to help our neighbors access emergency shelter through the Cold Weather Shelters (CWS) operated by Austin Homeless Strategy and Response (AHSR).
To support this effort, St. David’s is assisting our community in the following ways:
- Cold Weather Backpacks: St. David’s has prepared 70 backpacks for distribution this Friday. Each pack contains information on how to access emergency shelter, as well as blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, hand warmers, rain ponchos, hygiene kits, and emergency food.
- Assembling Additional Supplies: This evening, our Wednesday night volunteers will assemble another 60 to 70 cold weather supply bags to bolster Trinity Center’s inventory.
- Information & Resource Distribution: St. David’s is providing guidance on seeking cold weather shelter at our front desk, where we also have emergency supplies prepared by our volunteers available for those in need.
We extend our deepest thanks to the St. David’s parishioners for making these resources possible. Your stewardship and volunteer contributions make a life-saving difference for so many in downtown Austin.
