EVERYONE IS INVITED TO ‘LA GRAN POSADA’ 2025!
Set for Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. David’s, 10 Local Episcopal Churches Unite to Ensure this Beautiful Hispanic Tradition is Supported
Join us for our fun, beautiful, and welcoming “La Gran Posada” celebration! Everyone is invited on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Church in downtown Austin.
This event is not only free and family-friendly, it is a wonderful way to experience the warmth and community of a cherished Latin American tradition while also visibly supporting Hispanic communities. The evening kicks off with the Posada procession at 5:30 p.m. on St. David’s grounds, and will culminate with a fiesta featuring authentic music, piñatas, and delicious Hispanic food.
Come Early for Costumes!
The church doors open at 5 p.m. to give the little ones time to get into Nativity costumes (costumes provided!). Child care will be available during the main event, and the venue is fully accessible for PWD (People With Disabilities).
A Beloved Tradition of Welcome
Posadas are a beautiful religious celebration that commemorate Joseph and Mary’s search for refuge before the birth of Jesus. They are a meaningful reminder of both the magic of the Christmas story and the vital importance of welcoming the stranger—plus, they are a lot of fun for all ages!
A Community United
This year, 10 local Episcopal churches have come together to sponsor and share this meaningful Hispanic tradition with the broader Austin community. In today's climate, uniting to share such a poignant tradition feels more important than ever.
The Austin churches participating in “La Gran Posada” include: All Saints’ Episcopal Church, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, St. David’s Episcopal Church, St. James Episcopal Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Jubilee Episcopal Church, St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
