Support the Work of Our Ministries in 2027

Stewardship season is upon us, and along with it, God willing, cooler weather. During October, you will hear from us in your mailbox and during announcements as we begin to talk about our commitment to the church. Please consider talking to your kids about pledging in terms of time, talent, and treasure. Any amount of those things we contribute to the church makes a meaningful impact on our community.

For instance, we have eight committed teachers who pledge their time to our children’s programming every single Sunday. I would be remiss if I didn’t take this moment to acknowledge their willingness to form each of our children. Thank you each for your care and love for our church families.

I will also tell you that it took a long time for Allen and I to be able to pledge what felt like a meaningful amount to St. Matthew’s when we were new parents. In that time, I also taught Sunday School, and we pledged what we could. I’m not even a little ashamed to tell you it was a very small amount, but it mattered to us.

As time went on, I served on the Vestry, helped lead VBS and women’s retreats, and gave a little more financially. We raise our pledge every year that we can, and it looks a lot different than it did way back then – I am so grateful for that. We still contribute to St. Matt’s all these years later, and we contribute to St. George’s in Durham, where Clare now goes to church, as well. Her presence there, and our donation, has helped them to see the benefit of hiring an associate priest to build on their college ministry.

All that is to say that we cannot imagine how our resources and care for our community will grow into incredible ministry over time. The ways we commit will be varied, and may feel small at first, but what we build becomes real, solid work for the church. And it is always worth it.
