2026 Vestry Update

13Jan

As the new year begins, the vestry has been hard at work recruiting and organizing themselves for the work that 2026 will bring.

John Crow has agreed to serve an additional year on the vestry and will continue as senior warden. Special permission has been granted by the bishop to allow him to serve an additional year, and his term on the vestry will end in January 2027.

“John brings both a deep commitment to St. David’s and important knowledge of human resources practices that will serve us well in 2026,” said Mother Hope Tinsley Benko, locum tenens. “I have come to count on his wisdom, and I am grateful he accepted my invitation to continue on as senior warden for an additional year. We will all benefit from his leadership during this transition.”

This leaves four seats on the vestry to be filled at our Annual Parish Meeting on Jan. 25, 2026. The vestry has organized a slate: Laura Hernandez-Ehrisman, who is currently serving an unexpired term that ends in 2026, John Orton, Diane Mazuca, and Derek Pang. This slate represents many years of faithful service to St. David’s. You’ll learn more about each candidate at the annual meeting.

John Crow shared his gratitude and appreciation to the new vestry members saying, “their commitment, perspectives, and leadership are invaluable at this time of transition, and they will be solid guides as we continue our walk of faith together.”

Vestry members whose terms end in 2026 include Peni Ellis, Rick Patrick, and Joe Sanchez.

“Peni, Rick, and Joe have contributed greatly during their years on our vestry. Each has kept Christ at the center of our work and made St. David’s a better place through their faith. We will miss them in the vestry room, but I know they will continue to serve the parish with their unique gifts,” said Mother Hope.

St. David’s will also elect one delegate to Diocesan Council to serve a 4-year term ending in 2029. Bill Landon, who served a 1-year unexpired term in 2025, will stand for election to continue to represent us.

All confirmed adult communicants in good standing have voice and vote at the Annual Parish Meeting. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, Jan. 25, at 10: 15 a.m., and plan to join us for this important work of the parish.
