We invite you to take advantage of the many opportunities for Adult Formation during this season of Advent.
During the Advent Wreath-making activity on Dec. 1, you can pick up a copy of a devotional book that takes a closer look at the Psalms of Advent. Show Me Your Ways, O Lord features the reflections of four women of different ethnicities who are from the Episcopal tradition: Kathyrn Nishibayashi, Beth-Sarah Wright, Nancy Frausto, and Kim Fox. We are asking for a $5 donation for the book.
During the Crail C hour (10-11 a.m.) on the Sundays of Advent, our very own Eric Mellenbruch, organist at St. David’s, will be presenting a series on the hymns of Advent, exploring Advent’s rich imagery and many meanings through key hymns and readings of the season. Visit the music blog to see his weekly Advent Music Notes, expanding on the music we will hear in worship.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Elizabeth Ann Gates will be leading our Advent Quiet Day, looking at the themes of the season through the lens of Celtic spirituality. Elizabeth Ann is a graduate of Seminary of the Southwest and a spiritual director.
Of course, our usual formation offerings—Men’s Bible Study, Reading the Bible ToGather, Sunday Morning Meditation, and Wednesday night book study—will continue during Advent.
Our hope is that you will find a pathway through one or more of these offerings to deepen your Advent journey as we anticipate the birth of Christ yet again into our world.
