Dec. 7
The Rev. Hope Tinsley Benko: The People Who Wait in Luke’s Gospel
Luke's Gospel opens with portraits of several figures who have been waiting faithfully for God's promised Messiah all their lives. We'll meet each of them and consider how we might learn from their examples as we await Christ's rebirth in our lives. This is the first lecture in our Advent Waiting series.
Dec. 14
The Rev. Kristin Braun: Waiting as a Way of Controlling the Future
How we form our prayers and thoughts can leave us open to God’s providence and care or set us up for deep disappointment when God fails to come through for us. We will walk through a process of clarifying our intentions and leaving space for the Holy Spirit to work with and through us so we feel empowered by our faith to stand in our own courage. This is the second lecture in our Advent Waiting series.
Dec. 21
The Rev. Chad McCall: Christian Community: The Space in Which We Wait
How does Christian community form and inform the ways in which we wait for the coming Lord? What does it mean to wait together with others? We also explore how the Eucharist forms, shapes, and strengthens our community during this time of waiting. This is the final lecture in our Advent Waiting series.
