2026 All Souls' Requiem Eucharist
Monday, Nov. 2
7 p.m., Historic Church
This year’s Eucharist in commemoration of All Faithful Departed (All Souls) features the earliest known musical setting of parts of the Prayer Book service for the dead. Thomas Morley, a leading English composer of the time of Shakespeare and Elizabeth I, wrote these short choral anthems in a beautifully sober style appropriate for use in procession and out of doors, but he also included moments that set the texts of hope and entreaty quite expressively.
The service includes a solemn reading of the names of those buried from this parish in the last year and prompts us not only to honor their memory but also to ponder our own mortality. Please join your parish family for the All Souls’ Requiem.
