deep wells of joy:
philippians Bible study

Wednesdays, June 3, 10, 17, and 24
6:15 p.m., Crail C

Join us Wednesday evenings after dinner in Sumners Hall to study St. Paul's Epistle to the Philippians together. Philippians is thought of as a very joyful and positive book of scripture, but the joy that Paul encourages the Philippian church toward is not cheap. Together, we will read about joy as a hard-won antidote to anxiety and as the glue of community. Even now, nearly two thousand years after its writing, Philippians offers a timely word to those of us tempted to lose sight of the Good in the midst of suffering, uncertainty, and fear. Joy is an act of resistance and a commitment to God's kingdom vision for abundance.
