Scriptural Foundations: The Prophets

St. David’s Scriptural Foundations is a 2-year certificate program that provides an in-depth exploration of the Old and New Testaments, considering their historical contexts, literary characteristics, and relevance for today. Dr. Stephen Bishop, associate professor of Old Testament at Seminary of the Southwest, will teach this course, which will focus on the history and literature of the prophetic books of the Old Testament.  Emphasis will also be given to the rise of biblical prophecy and the role of the prophet in Ancient Israel.

weekly reading assignments, and attendance tracking for certification.

The Wisdom Books

Oct. 29-Nov. 19

Dr. Bishop will also teach this course, which will focus on books of the Old Testament that are often called the Wisdom Writings, or Writings. These books include Psalms, Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes.
