10-11 a.m., Crail C

Former director of the Zilker Botanical Garden, Molly Conner Ogorzaly, and her husband, Bob, will contrast Japanese gardens with their Western counterparts, explain how to incorporate Eastern gardening concepts into Texas landscapes, and highlight their own Taniguchi garden as a source of guidance and inspiration.

Molly Conner Ogorzaly

Molly Conner Ogorzaly is an illustrator whose depictions of endangered species adorn a Natural Heritage Foundation map, which is displayed in schools and public offices across the state. She co-authored and illustrated four editions of the college textbook "Plants in Our World: Economic Botany," an endeavor that spanned 40 years and spurred global travel. Molly developed the Plantmobile, a traveling science museum, taught botany at Khabele School, now the Headwaters School, and helped create teaching gardens throughout the community. The highlight of her career was serving as education director at Zilker Botanical Garden, where, in 1996, she was sponsored by our sister city of Oita for a gardening internship in Japan.
